Our History

Ora’s congregation is a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Initially a member of the “Presbytery of the Carolinas and Georgia” of the ARPC in 1790, Ora became a member of “Second Presbytery” with the dissolution of the previous presbytery in 1800. We became members of “Catawba Presbytery” in 2024.

The congregation’s original name was “Madole’s Old Field Church”, it was renamed “Warrior’s Creek Church” in the early 1800’s. The church’s name was changed again to “Bethel” in 1936 but finally settling on “Ora” to reflect the local community.

Ora comes from the Greek word for “Hour” and in the Latin, it means “Prayer”. Though our name has changed, our beliefs have remained the same. We would love for you to join us this Sunday for our Sweet Hour of Prayer! Soli Deo Gloria!
